Why it matters
The need
Insulin, inhalers, heart medicine, antibiotics: the prescription is written, and then the price stops everything. People on fixed incomes skip doses, split pills, and end up in an emergency room that costs everyone more.
This campaign pays only what nothing else will. Every request is walked down a ladder of cheaper options first, so grant dollars stretch as far as they possibly can.
How it works
- 1
Cheaper pricing is checked first
Sliding-scale clinics and 340B contract pharmacies often fill the same prescription for a few dollars. That is always the first call.
- 2
Patient assistance paperwork gets done
Most specialty drugs have a free or reduced program. The barrier is the paperwork, so an advocate sits down and fills it out with the patient.
- 3
The fund covers the remainder
When no program applies and the medicine is needed now, relief covers the copay or cash price so the prescription is actually filled.
